Thank you for interest in the USA Hockey Officiating Program and the Illinois Officials Hockey Association. Everyone must attend a USA Hockey seminar each year (both veterans and new officials) in order to be a registered official.
New officials must register on-line as Level 1 officials in order to be admitted to the seminar. New officials must be 14 years old by August 1, 2011 to register with IHOA for the 2011-2012 season.
Registration is on a "first come, first served basis" and registration for each seminar will be closed when the seminar reaches capacity. Please note that these seminars often fill up quickly.
If you have any other questions about seminars or the registration process, please contact Erin Blair the Registrar for the State of Illinois. You may contact her by e-mail. SEE CONTACT US PAGE.
You will register with USA Hockey on-line at http://www.usahockeyregistration.com.
After you register with USA Hockey, you will receive a USA Hockey Rule Book and access to the Open Book Test. You need to complete the Open Book Test on-line. USA Hockey will process all of your information. If you successfully complete all aspects of the program, they will send you a Referee's Card along with a Crest for your Referee's sweater.

Minimum/Maximum Ages
To be eligible to officiate in the State of Illinois (IHOA), the official will need to be 14 years old by August 1st of 2011. Officials under 14 who were completely registered in 2010-2011 are still eligible to register in 2011-2012.
Scheduling Of Games
Registration with the USA Hockey Officiating Program does not guarantee any official any game assignments. Officials are responsible to obtain their own game assignments from local game schedulers as designated in each District.
Any game scheduler who assigns incompletely registered officials for games is subject to serious liability as he/she jeopardizes the insurance coverage of the officials and both teams involved. Whenever possible, only qualified officials should be assigned to games based on the above assignment guidelines. Updated listings of currently registered officials are available from the District Referee-in-Chief on a regular basis.
